Working from home makes it soooo easy to binge eat!
You're free to graze all day & the fridge is all yours.
Is home a healthy place to work with Carpal Tunnel?
it depends on what you make of it
Sixty-six percent of workers traded an office cubicle for a kitchen counter "workspace" in March/April 2020 due to Covid-19. One year later, 56% report they are "always" or "sometimes" working remotely.
If you're among the millions now permanently working from home, you might be wondering if staying home is worse for your health than taking your chances with germs in your old office setting. You've got aches in places you never knew existed before, and your nerves are totally fried from listening to your children shriek in the background as you try to respond to your boss’ urgent email.
Cheer up! We're here to help, because that's what we do. If you're one of our patients, you know how much we care about you. If you're new to our community, WELCOME.
Getting ready & going to work has never been easier.
Resulting in a total disregard for our body posture
& a new pandemic of musculoskeletal disorders.
New aches & pains in your back, hands, neck?
Dr. Z explains it's because you're too laid-back
Working from home is the "new normal." Naturally, we've developed a new set of morning routines in order to get ready for work.
We get out of bed, respond to nature's most urgent call, then grab the cup of Joe waiting for us on the programable Mr. Coffee and head over to the couch. We flip open the laptop and check email, too pre-occupied to remember to brush our teeth and oblivious to the fact we're still in our pajamas.
Zoom appointment? No problem, clean up the top half that shows on camera while the bottom half remains in skivvies.
We've totally lost regard for body posture in all this. We're slouching and hunching over most of the day, spelling bad news when it comes to bodily aches and pains. Covid-19 is leading to a secondary pandemic of musculoskeletal disorders. If you're in pain, it's important to manage it right away so it doesn't become chronic. How's your "head" since working from home?
working from home is stressing both mind & body
This may come as a shocker. Working from home is actually more stressful for people than reporting to an office.
41% of remote workers consider themselves stressed-out as compared to only 25% of on-site workers.
Forbe's magazine published a survey of 50,000 home office workers saying that 45% of them feel
less healthy mentally while working from home.
In addition:
- 4 out of 5 workers find it hard to “shut off” in the evenings
- Over half of respondents have taken a “mental health day” since they started working from home, due to the pandemic
- 97% say that vacation days while working from home are important for “recharging” - another way of saying “mental health”
- Half of the respondents cite that their sleep patterns have been interrupted due to COVID-19.
